2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Review
2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is the electric SUV so many Americans could want, especially since it costs around $35,000 after the federal tax credit. GM has a lot of work to do if it wants to match the Bolt EV’s reputation for being a capable, affordable, and comfortable entry-level EV, but this model is a good start.
The front-drive Equinox EV’s single motor makes 213 horsepower and 243 pound-feet. That’s not much power for a car that weighs over 3,500 pounds, but Chevy manages to smooth out the acceleration and make the Equinox EV feel lively. A dual-motor AWD version is available with more oomph, but it also costs about $10,000 more.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV: Everything You Need to Know
GM’s optional Super Cruise hands-free driving system does an excellent job maintaining speed on the highway, anticipating the need to brake early, and generally making the car a relaxing place to be on long drives. It also does a great job keeping track of cars in front of you, even when the car is accelerating or slowing down.
The cabin is roomy and comfortable, with lots of space for passengers and generous cargo storage. The rear seat folds flat to expand the cargo area to 57 cubic feet. The Equinox EV is well-equipped for its price, with features like wireless phone charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 5G Wi-Fi availability, programmable teen driver settings, and dual-zone climate control all included.
The only real annoyance is the infotainment system’s touchscreen, which is slow to respond and somewhat confusing to use. It’s also a bit dated looking compared to other modern infotainment systems.
